Doma Safaris is a Private Limited Company, which has enjoyed a good reputation as an ethical, progressive and quality operator for well over a decade. Although it's active operations were interrupted between 2001-2005 it re-entered the market place, and continued its Conservation and Tourism operations. It is now establishing itself as a leader in the pursuit of initiatives such as the Doma Project.

 

Gordon Duncan

Gordon Duncan is a 4th Generation Zimbabwean whose family has been in the country since the early pioneer columns of 1893, and in Africa even longer. He was born in 1974 and has been a Lowveld native most his life. In addition to be being a Shangaan Hunters PH, he was the company's General Manager having registered the company in 2001 leaving in 2006 to re-habilitate a conservation area in Northern Zimbabwe in and around the Doma area.

Growing up in the South East Lowveld of Zimbabwe, Gordon has been privileged to be in the wilds all his life, hunting with his Shangaan cohorts from an early age with traditional bow and arrows, and learning the secrets of the bush from some of the finest old Shangaan hunters who's skills and instincts were from another time.

After completing his schooling he went on to study Zoology, and has been involved in wildlife and environmental work ever since.

Gordon commenced the Zimbabwe Professional Hunters & Guides Association licensing process in 1992 and after completing the mandatory 2 year apprenticeship and the subsequent Full license and rigorous proficiency test became a fully licensed PH & Photographic Guide. In the years since then, Gordon has been fortunate to gain invaluable experience, guiding, hunting and conducting research and conservation related projects throughout Zimbabwe and particularly in the Doma Area and Save` Valley Conservancy..

After playing a major role in getting Shangaan Hunters to were it is today Gordon followed his heart and is now working with local communities and Council in re-habilitating a Conservation area under the name 'Lower Doma Conservation Area' were he is doing what he loves, managing, capturing, nurturing and of course hunting an area he has long been associated with.

As well as being the Managing Director of Doma Safaris, Gordon is still a Shangaan Hunters Associate & one of their main Professional Hunters.


Rick Franco

Another member of the Doma Safari Team is Rick Franco.  Rick is an associate partner with Gordon and Glenn, providing technical guidance with the bow hunting aspect of Safari's.   Franco's previous military background and global experience also contributes to the marketing and support side of the Doma project.  Having completed several Safari's in both Zimbabwe and South Africa, Rick is intimately familiar with the complexities and necessities that lead to a great Safari experience.  Rick currently spends his time between his global work commitments and Doma Safari's.
